“The New” 48-foot Viking – Unreel Action Overall Length: 48’7″ Beam: 16′ Draft: 4’7″ Displacement: 45,5000 lbs.Pride and joy of the Reel Action Sportfishing Charters' Fleet

Completely rebuilt for the 2023 season, when you step aboard the Unreel Action, you are entering the exact equivalent of a brand new, $3 million 48-foot Viking yacht. This boat was designed for deep-sea fishing on the brutally unpredictable North Atlantic Ocean and yet delivers a level of comfort and luxury unmatched by any other charter service on Lake Michigan.

Captains Scott, Jeff, and Dan have nearly 100 years of combined experience in boatbuilding, engineering, and maintenance. By meticulously conducting the rebuild themselves—from bow to stern—they literally know every inch of the Unreel Action inside and out.

Reel Action Charter’s rebuild of the engine room alone was a massive investment. It included engines, transmissions, generator, and electronics—even reconstruction of bulkheads which had to be demolished to move the engines into place. Every single choice including the electronic controls, Volvo flat screens, and even a new steering wheel was made to duplicate what you’ll find on a brand new Viking.

Fast forward two years; the results of the investment, the hard work, and the choices made are proving themselves for Unreel Action anglers on every single run. Keeping the best of the original and adding the best of the new, has resulted in a boat that maintains its legendary fishability and success while offering the comfort, reliability, cleanliness, environmental-friendliness, and efficiency of the newest mechanical and technological systems.

Repeat customers immediately notice the new Unreel Action is faster, smoother, more efficient, and better handling. The 2-stage marine exhaust system with the twin Tier 3 Volvo 670 horsepower engines makes her whisper quiet. The 16 kilowatt generator runs so silently, most customers never even know its on to power satellite TV, three HVAC systems, refrigeration, freezers, and two hot water heaters providing hot and cold potable water.

But what’s most important to anglers? Fishability, of course. As renowned as the original Unreel Action was for her fishability, the rebuild is even better.

Electronic troll provides the capability of dialing in the perfect fish-catching speed of the day based on propellor revolutions! All new electronics make navigation almost too easy. And Captain Scott, keeps the new, top secret fish-finding sonar systems under lock and key!

As it has always been, the Unreel Action is a roomy, stable platform for any group of anglers, even in rough seas. Quite simply, it the BIGGEST, BEST, and BADDEST fish-catching machine chartering on Lake Michigan. While her appointments certainly place this boat in the “yacht” category, it’s built and equipped to catch fish! If you’re only satisfied with the BEST of the BEST, the Reel Action Charter’s Unreel Action is your undeniable choice.
